{ semi-current thoughts }

{ 31.12.00 }

Okay, maybe it'll work properly this time. I tried posting at around 12:53am this morning, but Blogger decided to tell me I was still living in the 31st of December. Curses..!

So... enthusiasm revved up again... Happy New Year! Hurrah...!

Oh yeah, and go see "Little Nicky". Adam Sandler cracks me the hell up, and I don't care how immature that makes me.

You know what bugs the crap out of me? A skinny woman selling 97%-fat-free dips on TV, scraping up a tiny bit of hummus on a thin stick of celery and, with a sly wink, telling me that it won't break my diet. Hey, lady, I guess you weren't aware that the word "diet" encompasses what a person eats, not some crazy plan endorsing deprivation of food in the pursuit of looking like Calista Flockhart.

Argh.

Updated the blog - my own contribution to holiday whoredom, only post-Christmas, and I'm not calling anyone else a whore. Confused? Yeah, so am I.

If you dig around a bit, there's a new journal entry up at Homeless, for the 21st. (Just go there and click "before".) I'm a lazy trollop some days.

Happiness is a new pair of stripey cotton pajamas (and some new CD's). Sometimes you just have to pamper yourself, no matter how much the world tells you to be selfless and give entirely of yourself to other people. Which means that there shouldn't be any guilt when you go out to buy painkillers and end up buying glitter crayons as well. And icecream. And rice chips. (I shouldn't go shopping when I feel like crap.)

By the way, I updated the blog with a couple of post-holiday-season gifts. Go on in and check it out.

Dear Santa:

Ever bring me gut-wrenching menstrual cramps for Christmas again and I'm going to kick you in the sack. You know what sack I'm talking about, fat ass.

no love,

sammy

Merry.... whatever it is you do. I "do" Christmas, apparently, though I don't know what to think of God anymore and I felt uncomfortable at the carols church service I attended last night. I got some cool swag though, here's the highlights: Australian version Monopoly; a quilt-cover and pillow-slip set; tea-towels, oven mits and a low-fat cookbook; a couple of cute soft toys (including one that plays a lullaby when you press a certain spot on it); a calander full of baby animal pictures; metallic gel pens and animal stamps; a box of cute decorative dragons; and some chocolate. Actually, that's just about it.

Again, Merry Whatever. If it's snowing where you are, enjoy it and cherish it.

New journal entry up - about one of the things I find most whacked in the world, the text of the bible (or, a little passage in the book of Galatians that made me a little disgruntled). There'll probably be another entry up soon, I'm full of words at the moment (or full of shit, you be the judge).

When I was out today running last minute Christmas-related postal errands, I saw a vehicle sporting this charming little bumper sticker: "My other toy has tits!"

I have never ever experienced such a rushing urge to break someone's car windows.

Well, I finally did it - I signed up with Blogger to make updating this beast much easier. This doesn't make this part of my site a blog though - I already have one of those (which I don't use blogger for, how odd).

There aren't any real updates to speak of - except the new look of the front page. No new poems or stories for the Notebook; there are regular updates at Slackerbaby; nothing new in the Jewelbox; and I've written a new entry or two over at Homeless (plus one I'm working on at the moment about the Holy Bible being one of the weirdest texts in the world, which will probably piss off a few Christians, oh well).

Life Updates: nothing to speak of, really. I'm still working at my little temp job doing data entry, filing and shredding (and other office lackey type duties), I'm still awaiting progress on my fiancee visa to get back to the US, and I'm still losing weight. All in all, not that much. I'm looking forward to Christmas, and I still have shopping to do... and Christmas cards to send out. Blast.

{ Where To Now? }

{ Pikelet Recipe } - by popular demand and search engine requests, a recipe for pikelets - yummy little pancakey things. Make some today!

{ slackerbaby } - a "log", added to on a semi-regular basis, sometimes even everyday. It is updated less and less and I'm actually quite bored with it, to tell you the truth. We'll see what happens to it.

{ aw, shoot } - silly picture galleries, started July 2003.

{ Bookish } - New for 2003, a page documenting my reading adventures throughout the months. Reviews as I feel like it; contemplating amazon.com links.

{ The Wedding Album } - our wedding pictures, finally up and in order and online.

{ my Livejournal } - the somewhat frequently updated journal that started as an extra aside to my other writings and now seems to act as a substitute for...

{ out of context } - now defunct - a somewhat infrequently updated online journal, made for spilling out longer fragments of my ponderings and life. Archives coming soon

{ stuff written } - poems, fragments of prose, stuff that I write that isn't journally or webloggy.

{ draw wings } - pictures, doodlings really, that I've done with my Wacom graphire tablet. May include scans from my sketchbook some day.

{ jewelbox } - a cosy little place where I keep the unsortable scraps that have accumulated here over the years, mostly defunct projects and things I can't bear to throw out.

{ about } - just a little something about myself.

{ ramble } - a mailing list.

{ e-mail } - if you'd like to contact me.

{ guestbook } - for those afraid of email.
