I'm grateful yet again for low-fat choc poptarts - only this time with non-fat no-sugar-added vanilla icecream..! Mmm, yum. It is possible to have your cake and eat it too..!

I'm grateful for phonecalls with mum, however brief; for long conversations with a wonderful friend; that I have a washer and drier in the apartment and can do my own laundry whenever I want and get to have clean sheets every Saturday night; for Schlotzky's Deli (and fantastic in-laws that treat us to lunch a lot!); for cuddles; for shiny star stickers decorating my monitor; for beautiful comicbook art (and tutorials!), and for great TV shows that entertain me on Saturday nights (and every other night, come to think of it...)

Today I am grateful that the American Airlines check-in people let Nathan and me go through the security checkpoint with mum so I could see her off from the boarding area, and not just wave from the metal detector and leave her alone for two hours.

I'm going to miss her terribly. I wonder if my sister knows how lucky she is having our mum live so close to her?

I'm grateful for reruns of "Buffy", my mum, wrestling around having a tickling fight with my husband, exercise, and the warmth and comfort of friends and acquaintances, both new and old.

Today I am grateful for incense and the good friends that make incense! I am also grateful for wonderful comicbook art, great logs & friendly people on cool message boards.

I would like to say that I am grateful for low-fat chocolate frosted poptarts, fresh out of the toaster, eaten with a nice glass of cold milk. It's simple but there it is.

What are you grateful for?

Clean-up crew to the Jewelbox... I've tidied up and added some notes around here, nothing terribly new but it explains a little site history. Not the back-in-the-day this-is-how-I-started history but past journals and access to archives and stuff. You know, just organising the sock drawer and darning the holey stockings.

Hey..! I just realised that I've had a site for about four years now. First the crappy little goth thing hosted at my original ISP, then zinging from Geocities to Xoom to freespeech.org, then finally given a nice proper home by Tracy... I know I don't have a lot to show for it, but hey, I'm proud-ish.

And I STILL don't have a proper domain yet..! (Have registered two over the years, let one lapse, and I'm planning on another one or two but who knows when that might happen.)

Well, okay, the trip to Graceland didn't take as long as we expected - since we came back tonight and not Wednesday. I'll have photos up in the picture album soon - I took over 200 digital snaps. A lot of them are blurry/sucky 'cause you can't use a flash inside the mansion or the trophy house or the raquetball court (which is no longer a raquetball court but seems to be an extension of the trophy house - the walls are literally covered from floor to ceiling with gold record plaques from around the world. And in a raquetball court, the walls are really, really high).

I think my mother is much pleased with her visit to a place of pop culture significance. Except for how the giftstore ripped her off. There's about five gift shops in the Graceland plaza part (one leading out of each museum/exhibit). She went a little crazy, as a tourist is wont to do!

Did you know that there's now a Heartbreak Hotel? For real? It's there.

Graceland mansion is small by mansion standards, but it was the late '50s. I really liked it, kitchsy interior decorating and all. The Jungle Room was psychadelic.

I bought a bunch of Elvis postcards - about fifteen recipe postcards (each say "From Elvis' Kitchen" and list a recipe that his cook would make him - stuff like baked ham made with Coke, a macaroni salad, peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches, meatloaf, biscuits, etc) and two to send to 2 lovely friends back in Oz. We also got an official Graceland tour book. It's pretty interesting and of course, makes my pictures look like shite. But I like my pictures anyway. In photography, a steady hand is overrated.

You know how sometimes you start talking and you just can't stop? I'm doing that right now. Starts with our trip to Graceland, next thing I know I'm ready for therapy and you're all my counsellors. I'll stop before it gets ugly! Mwah. Nighty night.

Not much posting around here to to the log over the next three days... we're taking off for Graceland. Yep, a good old-fashioned roadtrip to Elvis Country. Wahoo!

Excuse me, I'm just going to be in that big pit of self-loathing over there for the next week or so. Carry on.

{ Where To Now? }

{ Pikelet Recipe } - by popular demand and search engine requests, a recipe for pikelets - yummy little pancakey things. Make some today!

{ slackerbaby } - a "log", added to on a semi-regular basis, sometimes even everyday. It is updated less and less and I'm actually quite bored with it, to tell you the truth. We'll see what happens to it.

{ aw, shoot } - silly picture galleries, started July 2003.

{ Bookish } - New for 2003, a page documenting my reading adventures throughout the months. Reviews as I feel like it; contemplating amazon.com links.

{ The Wedding Album } - our wedding pictures, finally up and in order and online.

{ my Livejournal } - the somewhat frequently updated journal that started as an extra aside to my other writings and now seems to act as a substitute for...

{ out of context } - now defunct - a somewhat infrequently updated online journal, made for spilling out longer fragments of my ponderings and life. Archives coming soon

{ stuff written } - poems, fragments of prose, stuff that I write that isn't journally or webloggy.

{ draw wings } - pictures, doodlings really, that I've done with my Wacom graphire tablet. May include scans from my sketchbook some day.

{ jewelbox } - a cosy little place where I keep the unsortable scraps that have accumulated here over the years, mostly defunct projects and things I can't bear to throw out.

{ about } - just a little something about myself.

{ ramble } - a mailing list.

{ e-mail } - if you'd like to contact me.

{ guestbook } - for those afraid of email.
