Tim Robbins wins best supporting actor Oscar - and gives a beautiful speech along with it:
"This is really a lovely, lovely honour," Robbins said in his acceptance speech.
He called Eastwood "an amazing director to work with."
But Robbins, 45, went on: "In this movie I play the victim of abuse and violence. If you are a person out there and have had this tragedy, there is no shame in seeking counselling.
"Sometimes it is the only thing you can do to stop the cycle of violence."
I was already starting to tear up, because his thanks to his partner Susan Sarandon was very touching, but it was at this point that I actually let go and cried. Sometimes I stop myself from doing that; it's awkward in front of other people and I feel somehow weak for reacting to things, but this was just so important. That emphasis on "no shame" is something a lot of people need to hear very badly. In the battleground of my childhood and adolescence, it was made very clear to me that speaking up and seeking help were very weak things, something shameful, something that indicated a lack - of dignity, of courage, of self. I still struggle to this day with that feeling, and I have been in therapy for almost two years. So it touched me deeply and I think it was one of the best speech moments I have ever heard. Thankyou, Tim Robbins.
